Oscar de la Renta Fall 2012: All Smiles

It's a rare sight to see a model smile on the runway. Of course, models have plenty to smile about and when you catch them off-duty, you can see them flashing their gap-toothed-pearly-whites. At the Oscar de la Renta show, the models seemed to be very cheerful. I couldn't figure it out, and then I realized, "Ohhhhh, they're smiling!" What an interesting thing to experience, and why shouldn't they smile? They're wearing Oscar de la Renta, and that's worth at least a smirk.

Smiling models aside, Mr. de la Renta delivered (as always) a collection fit for strolling Madison Avenue, rolling down the red carpet or artfully posing in your Park Avenue palace. There was trademark embroidery digitized into prints, plenty of suiting and girly, jewel-encrusted eveningwear. And, according to some well placed sources with a knack for Instagram, there were Oscar de la Renta nail polishes on the runway. So look forward to that as the brand continues to expand.
