Whitney Houston: In Honor of Sparkle, A Look Back at Her Style
Last February 11, pop music legend and actress Whitney Houston passed away at the far-too-young age of 48—tragically, just one day before the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, a ceremony the singer once ruled.
During the '80s and '90s, Whitney Houston was one of the world's most powerful and best-selling recording artists, and struck pop music gold with hits like "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," "I Will Always Love You," "How Will I Know" and "The Greatest Love of All." She also appeared in movies like The Bodyguard, Waiting to Exhale and The Preacher's Wife. But despite multiplatinum albums, model good looks and almost supernatural vocal range, Whitney also dealt with drug addiction and a rocky relationship with husband Bobby Brown.
Today marks the wide release of Sparkle, the highly anticipated Motown musical in which Whitney stars opposite American Idol's Jordin Sparks. Whitney passed away just three months after filming wrapped on the project, in which she plays a religious single mother to three aspiring singers (including Jordin, in the flick's title role). We'll definitely be heading to our nearest cineplex to see her final performance, and are sure millions of her fans will too.
