alice and olivia fall 2012: bold jewel tones
The Scene: Upon arrival, guests were ushered into a room-sized elevator and sent to the top floor. The raw loft was lined with large, color-blocked backdrops, the models posing in front. Loud party music played as guests surrounded a dinner table set with jewel-toned glassware, red flowers, towering cakes and dripping candles. The crowd, including Kevin Jonas and other sparkly celebs, sort of floated around the space chatting.
The Look: Designer Stacey Bendet took inspiration from an unlikely place this season. "My husband," she revealed. "He wears cargo pants and baggy T-shirts, but I have to say he did inspire some of the cool, sexy cargo pants. Sometimes I look at him and he looks so comfy! And I wanted the sexy girl version. I did metallic leather ones, metallic tweed ones. It's going to be the pant of fall." Bendet referenced a model on stage wearing an embroidered military jacket, layered over a gold top paired with metallic cargo pants. The look was strong and sexy.
This season, Bendet also launched the Alice + Olivia Gown collection. "I love that long green sequin one," she said, pointing to the floor-length gown with an open back. It was paired with a tough snakeskin leather bomber jacket, which gave it the ultimate cool-girl look.
The Pieces We Want: A colorful ombre sequin jacket, a striped green and black suit and a black and white gown.
