Kaelen Fall 2012: Shearling Bliss and Gilded Leather

The Scene: Considering her namesake collection is only two years old, it's impressive how quickly Toronto-bred Kaelen Haworth has evolved. Once known for her pleated silk separates, Kaelen took things in a darker, moodier direction this season. Models had blackberry-stained lips and slicked-back chignons, perhaps an indication of the Lincoln Center first-timer's more formal approach to fall.
The Soundtrack: Kavinsky and Lovefoxxx's awesome "Nightcall," our favorite song from the Drive soundtrack.
The Look: Trompe l'oeil textures all around. The shearling on a gray bomber jacket was shorn so closely it resembled fleece, while a golden zippered jacket and draped dress that initially seemed to be made from velvet turned out to be laser-cut leather.
Pieces We Want: A two-tone gray-and-black coat stood out, as did the violent lattice-print harem pants. And seriously, we want that shearling jacket.
