Watch the Chanel Team Make a Little Black Jacket
As we expected, those Chanel people take their craft very seriously— just watch the video below for proof.
It shows an arsenal of seamstresses weaving a single black tweed jacket, meticulously measuring the fabric, sewing the trim and buttons on by hand and studying how the piece fits the model. (Then, of course, tweaking, tweaking, tweaking. It's not a quick process.)
Our favorite part's at the end, when one of the women hangs up the finished jacket so reverently you'd think it was a diamond-encrusted version of Kate Middleton's wedding gown.
If we had a Chanel jacket, we'd probably treat it the same way. But in the meantime we'll just drool over the video, and shop the similar (and yes, cheaper) options below:
