Gilt Groupe Exclusive: Brian Atwood's Very First Handbag Line
Gilt Groupe, which got its start by holding members-only online sample sales in 2008, is now about more than high-end overstock. For the last year and a half, the flash sale site has also acted as an e-boutique for brand exclusives from big names such as Helmut Lang, Kate Spade and soon, Brian Atwood. Starting this Wednesday at noon and lasting until next Sunday, April 1, the flash sale site will carry the shoe guru's very first handbag range.
"This is our first handbag collection. We’re really selective about who we get involved with," Atwood told recently told WWD. "You have this huge audience. It makes it more exciting."
Although the collection will be expensive—items cost between $1,050 and $1,795—the pieces are arguably worth the investment. Each option is as exotic and cool as his signature heels—with the added bonus of not giving you blisters! There will be four styles in total, which include colorful a snakeskin clutch and minaudières made from tortoise shell, resin and metal. (If you'd rather wait, there are budget friendly-options in the works, but they aren't ready yet. Soon the designer hopes to release similar products for his lower-priced "B Brian Atwood" label.)
