Lucky Haul: Marni for H&M Edition
Today's the day Marni's much-anticipated capsule collection for H&M hits shelves, but last night, members of the press were invited to pre-shop the boxy shifts, chunky cuffs and dotted cardigans at H&M's Fifth Avenue flagship—and I was lucky enough to be there.
Predictably, it was full-blown pandemonium—or should we say pandeMARNIum—on the store's first floor. There was a fair amount of good old-fashioned pushing and shoving, but I witnessed many a friendly swap as well ("Trade me your plastic floral necklace for that size-four drawstring dress?" "Sure thing!"). Within 30 minutes, the entire womenswear selection had been completely cleaned out. Among the first items to be snatched up? The metallic paisley pants, polka-dotted cropped jacket, chunky-heeled sandals and pretty much all the jewelry.
Despite the insanity, I managed to do some decent damage. Since pants aren't really my thing, I'd come hoping to snag the paisley tulip skirt—and actually managed to do so. I also grabbed one of the coveted blue dotted jackets and some silver rope-tied sandals I can't wait to wear come summertime. Later in the evening, I even managed to pick up some silky pajama-style shorts for our Exec Digital Editor Lauren, who thought they'd sold out. Ah, sweet shopping victory.
