Fairchild Archive
If you've ever wanted to own a celeb-worn red carpet look, this story ought to strike a chord. That 1954 vintage Christian Dior dress Natalie Portman chose for the Academy Awards was just bought on auction site 1stdibs.com for the staggering price of $50,000.
An anonymous British couture collector was the lucky winning bidder of the size 4 strapless gown. Natalie's stylist Kate Young claimed that both she and and the actress knew the polka-dotted design was the perfect pick for the Oscars when Natalie tried it on—and found that it required zero alterations. Here's hoping it'll fit its new owner just as flawlessly.
