Jimmy Choo Teams Up With Artist Rob Pruitt on Pop Star-Worthy Accessories
It's clear that Jimmy Choo likes to collaborate with high-profile artists instead of other fashion labels. After team-ups with gallery favorite names such as Nan Goldin, Marilyn Minter and Richard Phillips, the accessories brand has tapped Rob Pruitt for its Cruise 2013 collection. Known for making bright pop art with a Warholian touch, Pruitt will help design a range of shoes, handbags and small leather goods inspired by his playful pieces.
"We were captivated by Pruitt’s energy, his computer screen use of colour and the festive exuberance of his prints and materials; there were elements in his work that reminded us in subtle ways of the Jimmy Choo design iconography," explained Sandra Choi and Simon Holloway, the company's Creative Directors. "We sensed that Rob’s twist on Jimmy Choo glamour would yield something very collectible and uniquely beautiful."
No product images have been released to the public yet. But between the brand's signature sexy styles and Rob's use of bright colors, these heels will surely be a big hit with fearless fashion-forward musicians like Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj. Just check out Pruitt's "The Kiss, After Brancusi" at left—and imagine it in pump form. Perfect for the VMAs, right?
