More Details About Macy's Magical Brazilian Journey: Rachel Roy and Carlos Falchi Are Also Designing Collections

A few weeks ago, Macy's announced that Calvin Klein Creative Director Francisco Costa would create a special collection for its Brazilian themed promotion, "Brasil: A Magical Journey." Today, the retail giant reveals even more guest designers for the upcoming extravaganza, plus a sneak peek of the products themselves.

In addition to exclusive pieces from Calvin Klein, there will also be capsule collections from Carlos Falchi—who grew up in Minas, Brazil—and Rachel Roy. The limited edition lines include '70s inspired dresses, jewelry, espadrilles and patterned clutches between $24 and $149. Lesser known names hailing from Brazil will also be present, such as Cecilia Prado from São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro’s Isabela Capeto. Since beachwear is an intrinsic part of Brazil's culture, it will be prominently featured throughout.

"We are doing bikinis, cover-ups and skirts all related to the beach," Prado told WWD about her designs. "We have a very unique style, with handmade patchwork."

Before the clothing collections officially launch on May 16, many Macy's locations plan to hold an "O Mercado" market on April 22. These shops within the store will carry food, fashion, home and beauty goodies either imported from or influenced by Brazil. While the company will use this initial project as a trial run, there are already rumors that it might make internationally themed collaborations a regular thing. What do you think about Macy's spotlighting fashion from different countries? We like it—it's sort of like Opening Ceremony, but more affordable!
