Brad Pitt Is Chanel No. 5's New Face

In a bit of a "huh?" moment, Karl Lagerfeld just named Brad Pitt as the new face of Chanel No. 5.

To me, Chanel No. 5's natural habitat is atop a mirrored vanity, nestled between a structured handbag and a bouquet of fresh gardenias. Meanwhile, I picture Brad Pitt most at home in Namibia, driving a Jeep Wrangler while wearing linen cargo pants.

Brad's rugged and adventurous (or, he has long hair and a scruffy beard now, so he looks the part); the perfume, which is fourty-four years older than he is, has more of a ladylike, traditional quality.

But that's probably why Brad makes such a good fit— past No. 5 faces Nicole Kidman, Lauren Hutton and Audrey Tatou may dress amazingly well, but they lack Brad's rough-and-tumble look. And on top of his gender (he's a dude selling perfume) that gruffness makes Brad a fresh, oddly perfect fit for the glamorous, storied fragrance, no?
