At the grand reopening party for Sephora’s Soho flagship (which is really cool and futuristic-looking, by the way), celebrity tattoo artist/reality star/author/beauty entrepreneur Kat Von D had lines of fans waiting outside to meet her. She knows a thing or two about makeup—she actually does her own—but I wanted to talk tats.

Q: Is there anywhere on your body that’s off limits for tattoos?

A: I’m going to leave my chest and décolleté alone. I like having that area clear!
