Inside the Met's Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations Exhibit: A Sneak Peek!

The Met's latest Costume Institute exhibit, Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, doesn't officially open to the public until Thursday, May 10/ But this morning, we were invited to the iconic museum for an exclusive sneak peek. For any fan of Miuccia Prada's madcap designs or Elsa Schiaparelli's signature kooky glamour, this exhibition's an absolute must-see.

Throughout the show, designs are divided by theme, with highlights including Prada's famous "Ugly Chic" suiting ensembles and sugary-sweet "Naif Chic" looks and Schiaparelli's signature outrageous hats. Plus, the exhibit's punctuated with Baz Luhrmann-directed short videos that feature Miuccia Prada talking art and fashion with a fictional Schiaparelli (played by actress Judy Davis).

Click through for a little preview of the many galleries that comprise Impossible Conversations, from one that pairs Schiaparelli jackets with Prada skirts to a glass-walled room of surrealist looks from both designers' archives. Tonight, celebs galore will fête the exhibit's opening at the annual Met Gala. Watch this space, of course, for updates on all the red carpet amazingness to come.
