Lucky Listens: HAIM
It wasn't until March 2012's South by Southwest music festival that Los Angeles sisters Este, Alana and Danielle Haim really caught fire. Together with drummer Dash Hutton, they simply call themselves Haim, and their sound is equal parts classic rock and grungy R&B. Though they've only released a single three-track EP thus far and are all under 25 years old, they've already earned their fair share of music and fashion industry buzz.
Performing's certainly in these sisters' DNA. They got their start playing rock covers in a family band called Rockinhaim, jamming alongside their music-loving parents. It would seem that the family that plays together, stays together.

Lucky: Describe your personal style.
Este: My style is pretty spastic. It really depends on how I'm feeling that day. Some days my outfits are full of color, and others I just wear all black! I find inspiration in people like Parker Posey and Selena.
Alana: I rep California all day with my style! Cutoff shorts and vintage tees are a huge part of my wardrobe, and I never go out without my vintage Calvin Klein Chelsea boots and some weird nail art.
Danielle: I like to keep it simple. Jeans, T-shirts, and a leather moto jacket for night.
You used to play in a family band. What was that like?
Este: The band was the brainchild of our dad's. We would play covers for charity events and our school functions. We play a mean "Mustang Sally!"
What's it like working and living together as sisters? Do you all ever fight?
Danielle: We've been best friends since we were kids. Our parents always siad that when all is said and done, we would always have each other. If we ever fight, it's about one of us borrowing clothes without asking!
You all have the most amazing long hair. How do you take care of it?
Alana: Moroccan Oil is always in our hair, and we also love Juan Juan's surf spray. We swear by Oribe, too.
What's the craziest outfit you've ever worn?
Este: I wore a grommeted bustier and sheer skirt to CMJ last year. It was my Selena moment!
You three are originally from L.A. What are your go-to shopping destinations when you're in your hometown?
Danielle: Wasteland has the best stuff and you can find really good pieces for little money. And American Way Thrift Store in Burbank is INSANE. It used to be a Rite Aid and got turned into a mega thrift store—it's amazing.
Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations?
Danielle: Christine McVie, Tom Petty, Usher, TLC and Chaka Khan.
Any particular pieces you're looking to pick up for summer?
Alana: Short-sleeved Equipment shirts. And we're still on the lookout for the perfect baseball cap...
