Lucky Haul: Two Shoe Thursday
Last Thursday, as temperatures hovered in a the perfect mid-70s range with zero humidity and very blue skies, I received not one, but two, pairs of designer shoes in the mail.
The first were my long-awaited velvet cat loafers by Charlotte Olympia, which I bought from Moda Operandi last January when the style was sold out everywhere else. They were actually my very first transaction with the high-end pre-order service (I've since had many more) and honestly I could not be happier with the entire process. Although it seemed hard to wait several months for my item at first (the website sells next season's collections so you are actually purchasing pre-production), it's actually become an easier way for me to shop because I like the peace of mind that I will get excatly what I want, even before it hit stores. Fashion has a really high turnover so sometimes things sell out before I get the chance to buy them. And the shoes themselves? Amazing. I immediately put them on a pranced around my bedroom to "Dog Days Are Over" by Florence + The Machine. (It seemed like the most apropos choice of music.)
My second package contained equally exciting footwear, obtained under totally opposite circumstances. On Tuesday, while checking out the Net-a-porter.com sale for a story I was writing (seriously guys, I had to, it was for work—see here!), I spotted a pair of goes-with-everything-but-not generic-looking flat black sandals by Burberry Prorsum for 50 percent off. And since everyone knows you don't play chicken with the Net-a-porter sale, I ordered them on the spot.
So there you have it: I ordered those feline-inspired flats six months in advance and got them at the same time as my T-straps, which were shipped within 24 hours of my order. Best Thursday ever.
