The Kate Middleton Engagement Dress Is Back on Net-a-Porter

I think for Halloween I might be Kate Middleton. I have brown hair and blue eyes, so all I'd have to do is buy that $19.95 "imitation" sapphire ring advertised during midnight infomercials, a pair of drugstore nude pantyhose and—the kicker—this Issa dress.

Out of everything Kate's worn, it's the one thing that really stands out in my mind (except, of course, her wedding dress, but I can't exactly text Sarah Burton to whip me up one of those.)

Like a Madonna cone bra or Michael Jackson glove, it's the outfit I imagine when I hear Kate's name. But unlike those things, it's actually wearable in real life—which is probably why the dress keeps selling out on Net-a-Porter, despite its $575 price tag.

Sure, it makes a pretty fabulous engagement announcement dress, but it's also good default for any occasion when you need to dress a little demure, like a fancy family dinner or wedding reception. Plus, that drapey fabric hides travel bag wrinkles like a dream.

Yesterday Net-a-Porter got a fresh shipment of the almost-iconic dress, so go buy yours before the new stock runs out. In 20 years, it might actually net an impressive chunk of money at a fancy consignment store and prove a pretty decent investment. (Unlike, say, pogs, Furbys or beanie babies.)
