Lucky Office Visit: Sutton Foster
Two time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster, known for her Broadway turns in Anything Goes and Throughly Modern Millie, recently dropped by the Lucky office to tell us about an unexpected upcoming project. Turns out the actress is giving up the Great White Way for Hollywood (for a little while, at least). Audiences will next see her in the June 11 premiere of ABC Family’s new sitcom Bunheads, about a Las Vegas showgirl (Foster), whose life turns upside down when she marries and movies to her husband’s quiet middle-of-nowhere town and finds work as a dance teacher.
Amy Sherman Palladino, the genius behind Gilmore Girls, who we worshipped for her snappy Lorelai and Rory banter, is behind the show, which has a least one thing in common with her former series: the talking-a-mile-a-minute requirement. “I’m from the South and a little slower,” jokes Foster. Still, that didn't dissuade Palladino from casting her. “Amy said after seeing me in Anything Goes, I was set in her mind for the role."
Foster turned up at Lucky looking cute-as-a-bunhead in Alice + Olivia, but she swears she wasn't always so chic. “I bloomed really late. I was all braces and limbs. I was in theater and it wasn’t cool,” she tells us.
You can catch the premiere of Bunheads on June 11 on ABC Family. Until then, click through our slideshow for Foster's top shopping picks.
For the Tony Awards, Michael Kors dresses Foster. "He is a big theater fan," she says. "He's seen Anything Goes twice."
Kate Spade ballet flats are a go to shoe.
"I'm a jeans type of gal. Lately, I've been into JOE's Jeans."
Sundresses are Sutton-approved.
Foster is a fan of this Chloe purse.
