Carven's Fall Campaign Defies Basic Physics

There's no telling which way is up, down or sideways in Carven's Fall 2012 campaign, which features Anaïs Pouliot against a backdrop of cement and street grates. Although the model is technically reclined in each shot, they've been tipped to give the illusion she's floating.

Creepy shadows cast in the wrong direction as the model seems to be falling in slow motion and her richly colored clothes (oh, those gorgeous clothes!) juxtapose the dull industrial setting. Although in real life, even the most lovely French-gamine type would never look that angelic, chic or sane sprawled across a city sidewalk, we're still completely charmed by these surreal and artsy advertisements. What do you think? Hard to look away, right?
