Shiva Rose Shares Her Favorite All-Natural Beauty Products
Actress Shiva Rose is every inch the California girl, from her bohemian, gypsy-tinged style to her all-natural glow. Her new website The Local Rose is dedicated to holistic beauty, which she’s been passionate about since she was diagnosed with an auto immune condition 16 years ago. “This health issue and a natural inclination to want a better planet for my two daughters got me motivated to use toxic-free beauty products,” explains Rose. “I discovered that there are so many incredible natural beauty products out there that work just as well, if not better than traditional ones. Plus, I like the idea of not putting anything on your skin that you wouldn’t eat.” We asked Rose to share her secrets for all-natural gorgeousness.
My can’t-live-without is Tata Harper’s Replenishing Nutrient. I feel like I am feeding my face with vitamins and nutrients. It is is absorbed easily and actually smoothes out the fine lines.
To combat sun spots I use The Lightening Drops by Arcona. This is hands-down the best alternative to the other toxic whitening creams. Since I started using it, I have been complimented on how my skin is looking radiant. What more can a girl ask for?
My favorite sunscreen is Marie Veronique Organics Every Day Sheer Coverage. It has a slight skin-colored tint to it, so I no longer wear foundation or makeup when wearing it. Her anti aging oils are also wonderful and smell divine!
My new favorite shampoo is Oribe Shampoo for Beautiful Color. I am obsessed with its scent. To me, it smells like clean rain--subtle yet sexy. I love it so much that I wash my hair everyday just so I can have the scent emanating from me! The wonderful thing is that it has no parabens or other toxic chemicals. It also leaves my hair soft and not weighed down at all.
I relax by taking a bath with Sai- Sei Mineral Seaweed Bath Crystals. It truly is heaven on earth. The bath salts are infused with seaweed and smell so, so divine. They also have essential minerals and scrubs.
The best low-tech spa treatment is the scrub at Beverly Hot Springs in Los Angeles. The place is not the lap of luxury but the exfoliating scrub gets my skin soft like nothing else. And it’s nice to detox and relax in the spa's really hot sauna and steam room.
