The New Shoe Floor at Barneys Is SICK
We'll pretty much shop for designer shoes in a dungeon, but the new shoe floor at Barney's New York's Madison Avenue location is luxurious enough to have us reconsidering that stance. The entire fifth floor has been transformed into a shoe lover's heaven on earth. They moved all of the men's shoes over there, too, so bring your man and hope he gets distracted while you have your way with the women's section.
If you're feeling guilty about going over your shoe budget, this should help: To coincide with the launch, they've started a new campaign called Perfect Pairs, in which 10 percent of sales from today through Sunday July 22 will be donated to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and its Americans for Marriage Equality Program.
According to Mark Lee, CEO of Barneys New York, there are more exciting changes to come. “The opening of our new fifth floor for shoes is another milestone in our multi-year plan to renovate our Madison Avenue flagship, which creates new cross connections between the women and men floors," he said in a release. "We are excited to unveil this luxurious new environment to our customers and shoe designers and are proud to support the HRC in the spirit of all variations of Perfect Pairs."
As for my first experience in the new shoe department...it was a treat to be able to shop alongside my boy pal Tanner Cohen, the brain behind White Girl Problems. I simply told the sales associate to bring a selection of size 6's over to the men's side! After an hour of anxiety-filled debating, I still left empty handed because there were just too many pairs that I wanted. Should it be the famed Chloe Susan or a new Givenchy shoe boot? I'll have to go back for one more round.
