10 Most Stylish Tennis Stars

U.S. Open season is officially upon us, and frankly, there's no better way to help ease our Olympics withdrawal—not to mention distract us from New York Fashion Week's imminent start. In addition to the sheer thrill of watching our favorites face off at Arthur Ashe Stadium, we also adore this particular sport because of its time-honored commitment to style. Face it: swimming may have some of the hottest athletes, football the toughest and track and field the fastest—but when it comes to well-dressed sportsmen and women, tennis totally has the advantage (sorry).

To wit, we've rounded up the 10 tennis players whose style we absolutely love (last one, promise). Which all-star's your favorite? Think we missed anyone? Let us know, and click here for more info on the U.S. Open.

Serena Williams

One of the sport's top five players, Serena loves pushing the fashion envelope—back in the early '00s, she wore a Lycra catsuit during the U.S. Open to great fanfare. Since then, she's launched both her own clothing collection, Aneres ("Serena" spelled backwards) and collaborated with HSN. A fan of experimental manicures, the 30-year-old even became a certified nail technician in 2010.

Venus Williams

Serena's big sis launched her own fashion line, EleVen, in 2007. The cute tennis dress she's wearing in the above photo is of her own design—and we're big fans of those matching pink-dipped braids, too.

Rafael Nadal

The world's No. 3-ranked tennis pro was once notorious for his on-court "pirate" garb. Now, in addition to having snagged Nike as a sponsor, "Rafa" fronts campaigns for the likes of Lanvin, Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans. And as you can see here, he's a stellar color-blocker.

The world's No. 2-ranked player won his first U.S. Open just last year. This past May, Uniqlo tapped the Serbian star to become its global brand ambassador, a role that saw him designing his own tennis line for the company.

With his signature headband and preppy attire, this Swede's the original Richie Tenenbaum. What more can we say?

Ana Ivanovic

This statuesque brunette is the face of Adidas, and is also sponsored by Rolex. Her cute color-blocked tennis dresses never fail to wow us, and her signature on-court braid arguably makes her the Katniss Everdeen of the tennis world.
