Oscar de la Renta's Fall Campaign Is Blue and Pink and Really Pretty

My favorite part of Oscar de la Renta's fall campaign is the palette: powdery blues and pinks that match a few things exactly—Jordan almonds, Care Bears, baby shower decorations.

Sure, the collection featured some other colors (navy, purple) and those pieces are in the ads, too. But I love the way the campaign really plays up the pinks and blues by making several of the images mostly monochrome, layering textures and accessories in exactly the same shade atop each other.

Doing so makes the pastels less springy and more rich and baroque instead—and, in turn, more fall-like. By pairing that Mentos-blue dress with a ring and clutch in the same tone, the whole thing seems intentional, not a "I should only wear this pastel dress in May" oversight. Same goes for the blush-colored cable knit and pink fur shawl combo. Our Beauty Director, Jean Godfrey-June, might not be into wearing head-to-toe Easter egg shades, but here, Oscar makes it look pretty good.
