Blake Lively Wore Marchesa When She Married Ryan Reynolds
Here's what we know thus far about Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' ("Blyan's?") nuptials last Sunday: the secret ceremony took place at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Florence + The Machine's Florence Welch performed three songs live and Martha Stewart (yes, that Martha Stewart) had a hand in helping design the affair's country-rustic atmosphere.
As for Blake's wedding gown? Despite numerous early reports that she'd walked down the aisle in Chanel, it turns out the actress actually called on Marchesa's Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig to create her dress for the big day. According to the label's press release, Blake wore "a one of a kind couture bridal ballgown, with a hand draped silk tulle bodice adorned with custom crystal and rose gold embroidery." Each bridesmaid, furthermore, wore "a unique custom made blush silk chiffon Marchesa gown with crystal embroidered detail." Everyone wore Christian Louboutin heels—no surprise there.
We were admittedly a bit shocked that Blake picked Marchesa over both Chanel and Gucci, two European fashion houses with whom she has longstanding contracts. But she has worn Chapman's and Craig's designs before on the red carpet; we especially liked that yellow-and-black dress she picked for Fashion's Night Out a few years ago (pictured above). Plus, one look back at the design duo's very wedding-worthy designs from Fall 2012 (below) convinced us: Blake's gown, actual photos of which haven't yet been released, must've been a stunner.
Oh, and as for Ryan and his groomsmen? They were all dressed by Burberry's Christopher Bailey in custom suits topped with leather suspenders, according People. Very Southern-dapper.
