Carven Teams Up With Petit Bateau
If you've ever wondered what could be better than a great collaboration between two labels you love, then here's the answer: A great collaboration between two FRENCH labels you love. Which is why we're already are setting aside money for the just-announced Carven x Petit Bateau collection. It's kind of guaranteed that we'll want every piece.
Technically this is the second team-up between the two brands, since back in 2009 Carven's creative director Guillaume Henry created a small range of infant T-shirts for the casual wear company. However, this time around, the collection will be much larger—nine styles in total—and includes items for both children and adults. According to the designer, each piece incorporates signature elements from both companies, like Petite Bataeu's jersey fabric and Carven's stiff collars.
"We tried to define the Carven wardrobe through a few emblematic volumes," he told WWD. "It’s always about that mix between two extremes—both seductive and demure."
The prices, which start around $64 (for a boy's polo) and end at about $320 (a women's dress) are great news, too. Yes, that's a little more pricy than your standard PB jersey top, but when you consider the lofty prices of Carven RTW—which normally start at $500 and tap out at around $1,500—its a huge bargain.
Unfortunately for us Americans, the line will first launch on November 5 at Colette in Paris, 10 Corso Como in Milan and select boutiques in London and Brussels before it becomes available worldwide, on December 5. But, on the upside, that's right before the holidays. Everything—especially the more affordable pieces, like the bib to the left—will make really great gifts. And, if you just so happen to pick up some thing for yourself in the process….
