Kate Bosworth Gets Embarrassed When People Call Her a Style Icon
Plenty of celebrities flit about New York Fashion Week each season, but there are few as serious about clothes as former Lucky cover star Kate Bosworth, who attended both the Prabal Gurung and Joseph Altuzarra shows yesterday. (She's also planning on stopping by Theyskens' Theory tomorrow and Proenza Schouler on Wednesday.)
"What we wear is our exterior expression for what's going on internally. I'm fortunate that I'm able to sit here and see the best designers in the world," she said while sitting with fiance Michael Polish before the Altuzarra show. "When you're able to view [fashion] at this level, it's a real honor."
As for her own status as fashion innovator—shall we dare use the word icon?—Bosworth is less forthcoming. "I get embarrassed with this kind of stuff, I really do!" when I tell her she's kind of become the Stateside Kate Moss. But she was more than willing to discuss her love of Altuzarra, whose dress she wore to the CFDA Awards in June. "I think his clothes are incredibly innovative, I love his use of texture and pattern and materials," she said. "Somehow the things you think wouldn't go together, go together effortlessly because of his vision."
Sure, she's got a lot to say about fashion, but when it comes to talking dresses for her upcoming wedding, the actress is keeping fairly mum. "I haven't started looking," she said. Does that mean she'll design it herself? (She is launching her own clothing line, after all.) "Really, I don't have any idea."
