NYFW Spring 2013: It's a Catwalk—Literally—At Anna Sui

Cats and fashion are not a new combo, to say the least. United Bamboo regularly dresses kitties in scaled-down versions of its clothes for its famous wall calendar, everyone in the industry practically worships Karl's kat Choupette and kitty prints have been big news in recent seasons.

But despite the fact that fashion's feline obsession is no longer groundbreaking, we were nonetheless charmed by Anna Sui's decision to put embellished cat ears on her models at her spring show. Even better, those headpieces sat atop kicky pastel "half-wigs" in shades of blue and pink that had been tied back into high ponytails. A+ on that beauty look, Anna.

As for the clothes, there were ripped fishnet tops and leggings, plenty of studded leather jackets (plus a great one in black neoprene) and a floral tea dress layered over zipper-trimmed pants. You didn't even need the Ramones-heavy soundtrack to tell you that the story here was punk. Coincidentally, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute just announced its 2013 exhibit will be called "Punk: From Chaos to Couture." We think Sui's closing look, a denim strapless dress encrusted with jewels that was modeled by Karlie Kloss, would be a perfect Met Ball option.
