NYFW Spring 2013: Michael Kors' New Order of Stripes

Stripes graced many runways this season, and yesterday Michael Kors treated us to his interpretation. Editors and cool kids began tapping their feet as New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" echoed through Lincoln Center.
With the faces in the crowd glowing from the light of their Instagram accounts, the show opened with a pair of models in bold striped knits. Before long, there were more subtle interpretations of this season's chosen medium, including multi-tone box-pleat skirts that gave the effect of stripes, color-blocked coats and striped suiting. To offset the vibrations of the striped pieces, Kors used bright colors and a few prints to break it all up. As always, the collection was littered with red-carpet moments-waiting-to-happen, including the cut-out finale dress worn by Karlie Kloss.
Of the bright and inspiring collection, the most standout pieces were the short suit worn with a super-crop top, the swimming pool printed separates and a dreamy watercolor-ed cloudscape print skirt and shirt.
