NYFW Spring 2013: Vera Wang's Indian Summer

In one of the least-costumey homages to India we've ever seen, Vera Wang filled her spring collection with showstopping embellishment and deep, beautiful color. The lineup began with an all-white section of rounded-hem cotton jackets paired with full, swingy skirts. Things took a turn for the bold when Vera sent out cerulean looks patterned with an Indian wallpaper motif. "Color chapters" in black, violet, forest green, chartreuse and glimmering gold, each more dramatic than the last, followed.

We loved the sleek lace dresses finished with sheer hems and sparkling clusters at either the waistline or shoulders, which we're sure we'll spot on numerous red carpets soon enough. But the real head-turners here were the looks that mixed patterned, colorful silks with hammered gold bullion. A metal-encrusted racerback tank paired with chartreuse bermuda shorts? So, so cool.
