Runway collections run the gamut from totally avant-garde to sickeningly commercial, but the truly successful ones strike a balance between the two. For Spring 2013, Chloe's newish designer Clare Waight Keller hit just the right note, creating a wardrobe of dresses and separates that I'd be happy to weave into my closet. The standouts, though, were the showiest pieces: a scalloped peach one-shouldered dress, a frilly lavender organza frock, and a cream gown pleated into near-oblivion. It was all very dramatic, without being over-the-top. (It also helped that the venue, a tent inside the Tullieries, was designed to let the beautiful Paris light shine through. I swear it made the clothes look even prettier.)
