J.W. Anderson Is Designing for Versus
Mere weeks after Christopher Kane left Versus (Possibly, maaaybe on his way to Balenciaga?), the Italian brand has hired Jonathan William Anderson—or, as he's better known, "J.W."—to replace him. His first work for Versace's sister label, both men's and women's capsule collections, is scheduled for presentation in New York City this coming spring. After that, the pieces will be sold in stores (both department and specialty) and on Versus.it.
However, don't expect the Irish designer to be a permanent fixture at the label. Versus has announced that he will be the first of many partnerships with rising fashion stars—so basically a sort of Target/H&M/Macy's/Kohl's collaboration program, only more high-end. Also, according to a report in WWD, Gianni Versace SpA is taking steps toward a stronger digital presence and developing a "season-less" line for Versus. Spearheading the project will be Donatella herself, who describes her vision for the brand as being about "fun, change and digital."
But, before all those ideas are put into action, let's re-focus on Mr. Anderson and how awesome his Versus collections will be—especially if his namesake brand is any indication.
