Kate Bosworth and Zoe Saldana Talk Perfect Holiday Presents at the Target x Neiman Marcus Holiday Launch
Last night, we joined Kate Bosworth, Zoe Saldana, Allison Williams and scores of other stars to celebrate Target and Neiman Marcus' holiday collaboration—and to shop the designer wares before they hit stores (and the web) December 1. Judging by how long the A-list guests stuck around to browse the collection after the red carpet craziness, we're guessing they picked up a few holiday treats, too.
"I really like the Proenza sweatshirt," Bosworth told me when asked about her favorite piece from the lineup. "And Prabal did a really sweet cape that's a perfect holiday purchase." A longtime fan of Gurung's clothes, she said she's incredibly excited for the designer's own Target collab to drop next year. "I think these partnerships are fantastic. The designers they pick are brilliant, and there's so much hard work that goes into what they do, so it's nice to see more people being able to appreciate it."
So what's Bosworth got planned for the holidays? "I'm gonna be at home in L.A.—I'm so happy!" she said. "I've been working in New Orleans on a film that's been wonderful, but [my character] is kind of a crazy. She's a meth addict, so it's quite an aggressive kind of character, and there's only a certain amount of time you can inhabit a character like that! Honestly, I just want to be at home and cooking with [my fiancé] Michael, his daughter, my parents and my grandparents. That's the only thing that I want for the holidays—family."
In terms of more tangible gifts, we wondered what Kate likes to give her friends for Christmas. "I always think a photo is nice," she said. "That's probably the most personal thing you can do. You can go and have it custom-framed, and it's not too expensive. And it works for so many people!"
Saldana, on the other hand, chose a classic stocking stuffer as her go-to gift. "Candles! People like candles. I hate—OK, I dislike with a passion—getting or receiving arbitrary gifts." Agrees Jason Wu, "I'm giving a lot of Jason Wu candles out, because that's the only thing that I make that's unisex."
As for designer Lela Rose, the best presents are of the drinkable sort. "There's this moonshine whiskey that's made in Brooklyn that I give to everyone!" she laughed. "It's in this very chic bottle. I always find that moonshine's a good way to go." Bottoms up!
