A Brief History of Sequins

Like them or loathe them, sequins and glitz are a part of the holiday season. Personally, I’m a proponent for anything bedazzled—no matter the time of year or how casual the occasion. So when did it become customary to save the embellishments for more festive times? From King Tut to Liberace, follow the sequin-ce of events that lead to all things blinged out.

Ancient Egypt: Pharaohs are buried in sequined garments, fashioned out of gold coins, to signify their importance when they enter their next life.
