I'm not one of those people who thinks gift cards fall flat as a present. I understand that they do literally fall flat. But two-dimensionality aside, I think a gift card can be pretty awesome. Especially when it's coming from a store that's an obvious match for the recipient, ensuring they'll definitely, actually like their holiday present for once. Whether they tack on something tangible or package their gift cards in an inventive way, they'll stand out as a gift card that was not only fun to spend but fun to open, too.
