Inaugural Ball Rumors: Who Will Dress The First Family?

With the finger-bitingly close election behind us, the only uncertainty surrounding this weekend's inaugural ball is the First Family's wardrobe. As the big night creeps nearer, there's been a lot of speculation as to what our president, his children and (especially) his wife will be wearing—but no real answers.

There are, however, plenty of good guesses.

East Wing staffers recently revealed to WWD that around 20 gown samples have been sent to the White House from several brands that we'd happily wear to a fancy government party. Those with dresses in the running reportedly include: Michael Kors, Derek Lam, Naeem Khan, Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, Bibhu Mohapatra, Thakoon Panichgul, Tracy Reese, Chris Benz, Tory Burch, Narciso Rodriguez, Zac Posen, Maria Cornejo, Thom Browne, Barbara Tfank and Laura Smalls.

Many designers, though, would simply settle for a Sasha or Malia endorsement—like Tommy Hilfiger, who recently sketched his ideas for the first daughters' looks, along with Nanette Lepore and Karl Lagerfeld. If possible, their outfits seem to be even more of a mystery than their mother's, as we have many less occasions on which to base our predictions. (And those we do have have typically been ASOS-level casual.)

What labels do you think (and hope!) the Obamas will be wearing this weekend?
