Marchesa Is Launching a Lower-Priced Line Called Marchesa Voyage
When we think of Marchesa, lots of wonderful, dreamy adjectives come to mind (elegant! ethereal! decadent! fancy!) but none of them describe something remotely everyday or accessible. That's all about to change, though, with the brand's forthcoming contemporary line of daywear and accessories. (We called it!)
WWD reports that the collection will be called Marchesa Voyage and is meant for the same type of women who also wears the label's gowns—only these pieces are intended for her downtime, not for parties. "It’s for a global-minded woman, whether she is traveling the globe or whether she is just staying at home," co-designer Keren Craig told the publication.
People who don't have a social calendar filled with fundraisers and red carpet events will be able to enjoy Marchesa Voyage, too. Since it's made up of boho-casual items—think embellished denim, furs and pieces inspired by designer Georgina Chapman's own extensive scarf collection—there'll be lots of options for ladies just looking for something pretty to wear on the weekend. Also, the prices are the company's most reasonable yet: wholesaling between $100 and $400, everything should wind up costing less than the pieces in Marchesa's lower-priced eveningwear line, Notte by Marchesa, which usually runs in the high three-digit range.
