Milly and Banana Republic Collaborate On a Lower-Priced Line
This coming spring, Michelle Smith has more than her NYFW show to prepare for. The Milly designer is currently collaborating with Banana Republic on a collection of over 60 items, set to debut in May.
Although the range is based on her namesake label, it'll have something we haven't seen from Smith before—menswear. "At this time, the Banana Republic Milly Collection is the only men’s wear I’ve designed," she told WWD. According to Simon Kneen, Banana Republic’s creative director and executive vice president of design, pieces for the guys will have "a more muted palette" and scaled-down prints.
Inspired by "the Hamptons summer feeling of great homes and beautiful beaches," the line will include an pattern created exclusively for the project, along with updated versions of six Milly prints. Prices reportedly begin at a mere $39.50 and peak at $175, making everything way more affordable than your average Milly buy.
We're still waiting on an actual lookbook, but our guess is that this final product will be KMA: Kate Middleton-approved. Already a big fan of the brand, the Duchess is also never one to pass up a great deal. And this sketch of a color-blocked maxi dress has that whole "trendy but conservative" combo thing happening that she does so well. As for the dude's outfit, well, we're not sure if Price William would wear it, but here's hoping his wife convinces him! Don't you think Wills would look great in neon green and blue?
