Why Tibi is Awesome Right Now

Tibi has always been good, but lately it's just been better.  Click through below to see our short list of reasons why we're currently so infatuated with designer Amy Smilovic's 16-year-old brand.

The Face

As Tibi's favorite model and unofficial brand ambassador, Olivia Palermo makes the clothes look good both in photo shoots and in real life. The latter has us most intrigued, though; whether she's showing us how to pull off head-to-toe prints on the red carpet or just elevating a basic daytime look with one of the brand's tuxedo jackets, Olivia always makes Tibi look great. (And in ways we might never have thought of.)

The Fall 2013 Collection

Chunky knits, slim pants, pencil skirts. Yes, yes, yes. It's everything we want to be wearing right now (and eight months from now).

The Capsule Collections

So many brands are on the capsule collection train lately, and sometimes they slide into producing obscurely-themed products for no apparent reason at all. Not Tibi—and especially not with its most recent capsule. The label's heart-print clothing for Valentine's Day may not be earth-shatteringly artsy, but it is adorable. We're fans.

The Designer

We've actually been in Tibi's SoHo flagship store when designer Amy Smilovic was in there, and it's an experience. The woman is fastidious with her quality control, ensuring each shoe display is exactly aligned and every rack is perfectly merchandised. We appreciate that hands-on approach.

The Statement Pieces

Last fall, it was Tibi's lobster sweater that captured our eye with its perfect dose of kitsch. This spring, we're expecting everyone (street style photogs included) to swoon over the brand's geometric pieces, like this top. It's irreverent and gorgeous, like something that should belong in the Céline-y price range. (Thankfully, it's not.)

The Campaigns

Spring 2013's is simple but punchy, sorta like the Apple ads of the mid-aughts. We dig.

The Elevated Basics

No one makes a silk tank better than Tibi. (It's the brand's season-after-season bestseller, perfectly draped and popping up each time in a crop of new colors.) But the party dresses, like this black one, are perhaps the best of the fancified classics. Perfectly full-skirted and cut from high-quality fabric, it's a bit Nina Ricci or Alaia-esque, for half (or less) the price.
