Kate Middleton's Favorite Brand Is About to Change, Big Time!

If you and I were to sit down and discuss Issa London, what would our conversation entail? Kate Middleton, for sure, as it was really her endorsement that solidified the brand's success. Also, perhaps, we'd chat about those signature jersey dresses: how each style has such a flattering fit, why the exorbitant price tag is worth it and why we're so excited to shop lower-priced versions from the company's upcoming Banana Republic collaboration. But would we talk about about Daniella Helayel, the women who started the line back in 2006? Probably not.

Seeing as she didn't use her actual name when founding the label, people tend to forgot the designer who masterminded K-Mid's blue engagement outfit in 2010, instead associating the pieces with someone who merely looks good in them. It's this low profile that will allow her to quietly part way with the house, now mostly owned by Camilla Al Fayed (the daughter of Mohamed Al Fayed, the former owner of Harrods), without all the media fanfare of, say, Raf Simons leaving Jil Sander or Balenciaga losing Nicolas Ghesquière. Still, her impending exit, unofficially announced in WWD this morning, inevitably means there'll be some big changes.

Exactly what new developments we can expect from an Issa sans-founder remains to be seen. But seeing as it's grown from a small boutique brand to a internationally recognized name within less than 10 years, we'll surely hear about them all.
