Rebecca Minkoff's chic accessories--buttery leather satchels and studded wrap bracelets--are beloved around the
Lucky office. This weekend, the designer is documenting the best style at Coachella for
Lucky Right Now.
This year Coachella is sold out for the first time in three years and it is PACKED. So far the notable notable performances have been by La Rou, Passion Pit and LCD Sound System.Thankfully, the weather isn't too hot and the girls are dressing cute!
ONSTAGE UNIFORM: I usually wear a dress with Mary Janes. I'm loving the new Marc by Marc Jacobs dresses for fall. My favorite shoes are my black patent leather Chloe from several seasons ago. And, of course, my Gibson thunderbird and skullphone guitar strap.
OFFSTAGE UNIFORM: My favorite Freedom of Choice jeans, with a button-up top and Mary Janes..Always Mary Janes.
WHO EPITOMIZES ROCK 'N ROLL STYLE: Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore are the perfect rock and roll couple. Liam and Noel Gallagher are a close second. I love Liam's new clothing line, Pretty Green. I hope he develops a girls line too.
FAVORITE ITEM IN CLOSET: The "Veronica Lake" dress from Matruska Construction. I have one in almost every color. I throw it in my suitcase and when I take it out it's wrinkle-free--so important for traveling all of the time.
Rebecca is wearing a Forever 21 skirt, a belt bought at a market in Shanghai, Aldo shoes, a Topshop owl ring and Forever 21 fish pendant necklace. Alexandra is wearing a Rugby by Ralph Lauren dress, Introspection Boutique belt, shoes from H&M and vintage accessories.
Lucky's all about festival style this summer, and we are tracking the fashionable ladies of indie band Ra Ra Riot (violinist Rebecca Zeller, at left, and cellist Alexandra Lawn, at right) across the country to get the details of their inspiring tour outfits. We've already seen their choices for All Points West in Jersey, City Hall Plaza in Boston, an off-duty practice session in upstate New York, and what they wore when they opened for the Killers in Elizabeth, Indiana. Today we have photos of their cute looks at Lollapalooza in Chicago.
Once again I found myself at a festival with Ms. Karen O and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs over the weekend--no photo-stalking this time, though. Now THIS is cool: the band is looking for "ART STARS" to design a new t-shirt for them (the deadline is July 22, P.S.). The winner will have their print sold on tour and online. FUN.
If I were to design a shirt for this band, I'd skip trying to win on artistic merit (due to my vacuous aesthetic imagination) and instead go straight for controversy, i.e. turning an old Iron Maiden t-shirt into one that reads like this: "BRING YOUR DAUGHTER...TO THE SLAUGHTER: The Yeah Yeah Yeahs!" Or you could just take a marker and scrawl "THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS!" across any of those "sad Kurt" shirts popular with middle-schoolers of the mid-nineties--you go straight to hell*, but it's Karen O., man! She's weird! And you know SHE'S picking this winner, not the dudes. Please. (Less controversial idea: "THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS" on the front, "I AM QUEENS BOULEVARD" on the back. So uncool it's cool?)
Alexandra is wearing a Forever 21dress, Mia shoes, and vintage jewelry. Rebecca is wearing a Free People top, a Forever 21 skirt, Banana Republic tights, and Aldo shoes.

Look how this girl's hair changes with the wind! It looks different and amazing in each of these three quick shots, which were taken, like, split seconds apart from one another. THAT, my friends, is a GOOD haircut. A++++.
