Do you ever have those moments when you desperately want to wear something even though it's so not you? This is how I've been feeling lately about furry vests. The thought of being hugged in fuzzy warmth like that is so appealing in cold weather, and stylistically, I've always had a thing for the luxe-bohemian vibe, even though it's kind of the antithesis of how I normally dress. Browsing for them online has become a weird and guilty pleasure, considering I'm pretty sure I'll never actually buy one. I feel compelled to share my findings so I can live vicariously through the rest of you who are less risk averse than myself. My favorite is Gryphon's plush faux-fur version, which comes in the most beautiful auburn color. There's a band of bronze chain mail that hits above the hip, which is not just cool and unexpected (I love the interaction of soft, tactile fur with shiny metal) but accentuates your waist so you don't get lost in all the fluffiness and end up looking like Chewbacca. As a close second, I'm also digging this midnight blue marabou-feathered number, which is just about as decadent and glamorously rock and roll as it gets.
