40 Percent Off At BestowBoutique.com

2009_08_bestowboutique.jpg
Gift shopping site bestowboutique.com is taking 40 percent off everything in their "for the bride" section from now through October 15th. Even if you're not in the market for the soon-to-be-married, it's still a really good sale, for universally useful things like this Marseilles soap delicates wash (I'd almost just buy it for the packaging, though I've actually tried it and the stuff is great), DL & Co's gorgeous, exotic-scented candles, and this cheeky, cute embroidered silk sleep mask. There's no coupon code to enter—the discount will be applied at checkout.

Home Sweet Home, Courtesy of DKNY

2009_08_dknysheets.jpg
After two weeks of bouncing around and living out of a suitcase, I'm thrilled to be back in New York and have little desire to leave my apartment. With my new nesting mode in full effect, I've already made a long to-do list of household improvements. Maybe it's all the fluffy white hotel towels I've been treated to recently, but this morning I noticed it's time to start phasing out the older, less pristine ones I've got in my bathroom. I love the texture of these pique versions I just spotted on DKNY Home's just-launched shopping site, and the stripes add a nice bit of embellishment but still look really classic. Check out the bedding selection too—the patterns are also chic and subtle, and I have a set of their sheets and can vouch for the crisp-yet-soft goodness of the cotton.

Mining The Sale: Jayson Home and Garden

2009_07_jaysonbox.jpg
Click here for a slideshow of 5 more of my favorite discounted items from the site.

One of the best destinations for chic, offbeat housewares, Jayson Home and Garden, is hosting a summer sale, now through August 10th. The aesthetic here gets at a really good blend of exotic-modern-glamourous-classic. Take this handmade Suzani print box (was $225, now $135) for instance—I don't even know what I'd use it for (jewelry? makeup? desk supplies?) but I really like the idea of seeing this on my countertop.

Finally Online! Roberta Roller Rabbit

2009_07_rrrtunic.jpgYou wouldn't guess judging from the name—which sounds way more like an animal superhero from a kid's storybook than a really stylish, Upper East Side boutique—but the specialty at Roberta Roller Rabbit is resort-y, exotic imports from around the world. And despite the total chicness of her inventory, the prices are actually reasonable. I don't get to the store nearly enough, only because it's a good 70 blocks away from my apartment and I'm lazy, so I was thrilled to hear that they just took their goods online at robertarollerrabbit.com. There's a huge supply of lightweight cotton voile tunics ($70) that come in a range of gorgeous prints—these would be especially great for travel, given that they pack well, go with basically anything, and can be easily dressed up (dangly gold earrings and slim white pants) or down (over a bikini and denim cutoffs). I especially dig it in this slightly mod red and white pattern with contrasting trim.

20 Percent Off Everything At One Of My Favorite NYC Boutiques

TIV_dt_tanl.jpgAuto, my go-to destination for gifts (both epicescarf.jpgfor others and myself!), is offering a 20 percent discount on their entire inventory. I just spotted the Tivoli radio I wrote about last month—this thing really is such a pleasure to listen to and look at. They're also a great destination for Epice scarves, which come in such pretty patterns and feel impossibly soft and light (like this paisley cotton version in watercolor-y aqua, which ingridcusson.jpgalso works as a sarong). I love Ingrid Cusson's patterned suede checkbook covers, robshaw.pillow.jpgand this hand painted linen cotton pillow by John Robshaw is a tempting addition for my living room couch. The sale lasts until Jul 24th and the coupon code is "summersale09".

Summer Hostess Gift Conundrum Solved

LowestOftRoseTin.jpgThese gorgeously patterned floral plates by Mottahedeh are going to be my new go-to hostess gift. Though they come off like fancy fine china, they're actually made of tin and are meant to be used for picnics. The flowers almost look haphazardly placed, which to me gives them an Alice in Wonderland kookiness that makes me like them even more. They come packaged in a gift-y box, and a set of four will set you back $45—the same you'd spend on a couple bottles of wine only way more memorable and chic.

Candle Sale!

burn.bluehorizon.jpgIn my ongoing quest for scented candles I was pleased to discover that housewares site shopdreamy.com has discounted their entire inventory by 20 percent through the end of this month. I've admired the ones by Burn Voyage for a while, but have yet to try one at home. The combination in their Blue Horizon candle (was $26, now $20.80) seems totally infallible: key lime, pomegranate, ruby grapefruit, and Meyer lemon. kobo.rosemarybirch.jpgI'm also hugely tempted by Kobo's White Birch Rosemary candle, which I've actually been lusting after ever since I smelled one in the bathroom (I know, unlikely place to get turned on by a scent!) at Cafe Cluny a year or so ago. Look out for brands like Lafco, Voluspa, Kai, and Lollia to round out their assortment.

Designer Cupcakes, Mrs. O Inspires A New Style Tome, and I Heart Penelope Cruz

cuppycakeblue.jpgRebecca Taylor—cupcake designer? This is one of the more random fashion collaborations I've ever heard of, but knowing how delicious the treats at New York's Billy's Bakery are, I'll take it.

Still can't get enough of Mrs. Obama's wardrobe choices? The new book Michelle Style: Celebrating the First Lady of Fashion going on sale next week might be just for you.

Check out this slideshow of Penelope Cruz in Mango's upcoming ad campaign. I think she just might be the most gorgeous human being on the planet.

Home Happenings From Around The Web: Madonna's New Crib; The Real Grey Gardens; My Favorite New Design Blog

Picture_2

Madonna supposedly just plunked down $40 million for this upper east side townhouse. It's every bit as gorgeous, regal, and massive (12,000 square feet of living space! 3,000 square foot backyard!) as you'd expect for such an unfathomable amount of money. Click here to see a bunch of pictures of her new pad.

I'm with Jen and can't wait for Grey Gardens to debut on HBO tomorrow. Check out this slideshow featuring the East Hampton house where it all went down in real life. The "before" pictures are especially spooky/riveting/amazing.

I don't know what took me so long to get on the Decorno bandwagon, but the commentary is hilarious and it's full of gorgeous, inspiring interiors pics.
