Yesterday a friend of mine sent me
a link to the Gap commercial we were both obsessed with years ago starring the ridiculously cute ballet dancer Will Kemp. Watch it. For real—is he not one of the most crush-worthy guys ever?? The same friend had also emailed me to rave about their just-launched premium denim line. I haven't checked it out yet myself, but she says the skinny jeans are the best she's ever tried, and are indeed leg-lengthening and butt-lifting as
Gap's website claims. They're $69.50 and come in some really good washes, like
charcoal,
distressed white, and
my usual go-to indigo. I'm making a run to the store this week for a closer look. For those of you out there who beat me to them, I'm curious to hear what you think too.

I just saw this picture of
Drew Barrymore wearing bubblegum pink heart shaped sunglasses, something I might normally be completely appalled by and yet she manages to look so cute and fresh and happy I can't help but approve. Then I remembered that
Nicole Richie was also spotted in an identical-looking red pair, also improbably adorable, and then there's
Katy Perry, who turned hers into spectacles. Now I'm wondering if we're going to be seeing Valentine-ish Lolita glasses everywhere. I'm not convinced I quite have the joie de vivre to pull them off, but for those who're ready to jump on the trend, there's a range of inexpensive options in different colors available
here.

My birthday is this week and I'm pondering what, fashion-wise, it means to get older. Like, once you hit your 30's, are things like patent leather Mary Janes and trapeze dresses just infantilizing? Or even worse, if I don't retire my miniskirts soon am I going to look like a cougar?? I've never liked the idea of sticking to rules when it comes to getting dressed, but there's definitely something to be said about aging gracefully, a la
Lauren Hutton, who at 65 is still one of the most gorgeous and flawlessly put together women out there. What do you guys think?

Of the many, many dresses from
BCBG I'm coveting at the moment (
click here to scope out their selection if you haven't in a while—it's really good) I think
this is my favorite. It's the rich deep blue color and incredible embellished neckline that really get me. The combination somehow feels both really modern and vintage-y at once—like what Daisy Buchanan would wear sipping Gin Rickeys at some fabulous party were she around today. The cut of the dress is elegant and forgivingly drapey, and it's made of silk which I'm always a big fan of (nothing feels better against your skin). Be sure to check out the back view too; the
sequined collar extends to the back and opens up into a bigger, petal-like pattern and dips into a low U-shape, making the whole thing that much more chic.

I’ve been checking out
Mrs. Obama's looks on the Lucky blog as well as
mrs-o.org, so I figured I’d throw my hat in the ring as well!

Here she is
with Nancy Reagan at The White House in
the exact same striped Gap tee I blogged about in April! How cute is the pink floral/stripe combo? Both
the tee and
the cardigan are still available in select sizes on Gap's website—now on sale for just

$9.99 and $24.99, respectively—though something tells me they're going to sell out really, really fast.

Hopefully by now I haven't totally bored you with
my tie-dye fetish. I just discovered Love Tanjane's hand-dyed jersey dresses and they're too good not to spread the word. They're made in Ojai, which seems a very appropriate setting for the glamorous, California-in-the-70's vibe of the collection. I imagine getting tons of use out of
this strapless tube dress that doubles as a skirt. It's a relatively reasonable $128 and comes in a bunch of colors, though I like the black and white best.
The ankle-length halter, $184, is another great option (still not convinced? Check out this photo of
Nicole Richie looking incredibly foxy in it with braided hair and a snakeskin clutch) and I love the swirly mustard-blue it comes in.

Despite how many times I've pondered the perfect airplane outfit, I still don't really have a formula I'm one hundred percent sold on. I'm always riveted when I see a photo of a celebrity at an airport, even though it's an unrealistic standard to hold oneself up to (If money was no object, I didn't have to schlep my own bags, and I knew someone might snap my picture, I'd dress differently for sure). There's
a great slideshow up on Shine right now featuring a bunch of celebs on-the-go at airports, and the ones who nail the whole comfy-but-glamorous thing are a little surprising. Kristin Cavallari looks great in her drapey grey tee (I'm pretty sure hers is
this one by Kain), skinny
jeans, and boots (bonus points for the fact that you can wear socks with this outfit—I'm totally freaked out by the unhygienic-ness of going barefoot through security); Kelly Osbourne is chicly put-together in her little
leather bomber and cropped pants; and I love Mary-Kate's coupling of laid-back leggings and
that to-die-for Alexander Wang bag.
Rebecca Taylor—cupcake designer? This is one of the more random fashion collaborations I've ever heard of, but knowing how delicious the treats at New York's Billy's Bakery are, I'll take it.
Still can't get enough of Mrs. Obama's wardrobe choices? The new book
Michelle Style: Celebrating the First Lady of Fashion going on sale next week might be just for you.
Check out this slideshow of Penelope Cruz in Mango's upcoming ad campaign. I think she just might be the most gorgeous human being on the planet.
