Christina Applegate's Runway-Inspired Collection For FabKids.com Is Adorable

When Christina Applegate met the team at FabKids.com, a new and super stylish clothing line for young girls, she knew it was a match. "What really drew me in was the brand's philosophy and emphasis on encouraging girls’ individuality through personal style," says Applegate, mother to 2-year-old Sadie Grace, "I love the idea of empowering our daughters with what they wear and giving them the freedom to express themselves at a young age."

Applegate has been the creative partner since August 2012 when the brand launched and works closely with head designer Denise Kalinowski to create runway-inspired fashion for girls ages two to twelve.

The site is designed to be a fun, interactive experience for parents and their little girl (clothes are not available in stores). Here's how it works: parents and daughters sign up on FabKids.com and take a style quiz that shows them the best looks for her personality. A full outfit costs $39.95, or go with the new option, and purchase six outfits for $109.95. Pretty budget friendly for parents, right?

So what does this actress think about when she's designing the clothes? "My goals are pretty simple," Applegate says, "How do we continue to create collections that are cute and that little girls love to wear? How do we create pieces that are super comfortable and kid-appropriate? And how do we make our outfits easy to wear—and easy on mom?!"

We spoke with Applegate to learn more about the line and her style as a mom that is so not-your-mothers.

Lucky: Are you and Sadie on the same page when it comes to style? Do you ever battle over clothing choices?
Christina Applegate: Sadie definitely has her own style and loves to mix and match colors, prints, fabrics, and anything else she can!

What was your style like as a kid? Any especially memorable outfits?
My style was quite eclectic. I had everything from a denim gas station attendant’s jumpsuit that I loved, to lace up hip huggers with a tube top and knee high boots. It was the '70s so nothing made sense.

What item in your own closet does Sadie love?
Sadie loves to go into my closet and wear my large brimmed beach hats. A pink Tory Burch is her favorite. She also likes to wear a leopard print nightgown as a cape.

How has your style evolved since becoming a mom?
Being a mother means learning how to cut corners when it comes to managing your time and still looking good. This is something I’ve learned mostly through trial and error but the techniques I’ve learned up along the way. Three or four staple items will take you a long way. Anything nicely cut that is unique and simple will go with virtually everything in your closet.

What do you wear when you want to get out of mom mode and feel sexy?
There was a Roland Mouret dress that I wore during my appearance on Saturday Night Live that was form fitting and made me feel sexy.

P. S. We'd also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Applegate and her new hubby Martyn LeNoble, bassist for Porno for Pyros. The two got married on February 23rd, reportedly in their home in Los Angeles. Applegate has also recently announced that she will be leaving the cast of NBC's comedy series Up All Night. But don't worry, she's returning to the big screen alongside Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd for Anchorman: The Legend Continues, which will open on December 20th (seriously can't wait!). Who else is excited for Veronica Corningstone's return?
