Growing up in New York, accessories editor Melissa Lum would scour thrift stores like Screaming Mimi’s for tattered floral dresses, combat boots and fluffy Penny Lane–esque coats. “I’ve always loved the retro I’m-with-the-band aesthetic,” she says. “There’s a rocker element to everything I wear.” This season, though, Lum is refining the look. “The vibe is tough but more grown-up.”
