LUCKY'S NEW BOOK The Lucky Guide to Mastering Any Styleby Kim France and Andrea Linett (Gotham Books: October 7, 2008; $30) is hitting bookstores now. It has everything you need to know in order to pull off a signature look, or just have fun playing with the one you’ve got.

ON OUR COVER Vanessa Hudgens wins the award for most polite cover subject ever. After signing autographs for the crew’s children and introducing herself to everyone in the room, the 19-year-old High School Musical: 3 star couldn’t wait to put on the silk YSL gown that ended up on our cover. "The fabric has this subtle sheen I couldn’t take my eyes off of," she said. As for her own personal shopping routine, Hudgens is precise. "Before I leave the house, I research what I want online and where I’m going to get it. Right now I’m into flowy bohemian pieces that I’ll toughen up with something harder like biker boots."

GORGEOUS — AND WEARABLE! — COLORS Finnish design company Marimekko has collaborated with Avon to create super-flattering shadow combinations of lavenders, roses, and ballerina pinks, all crafted into giant Marimekko flowers for only $10!
