I spent last Thursday at Bergdorf Goodman because we had a casting call for the Faces of 5F campaign we hosted with BG. We were talking to 25 finalists (which was pretty great, the women were so interesting). As luck would have it, Thursday was the day the 60% off sale started--so in between casting interviews, I would run up to the sixth floor to try on dresses. I put a bunch on hold and went back this weekend for the final haul. Here’s what I bought: a Roland Mouret coral dress (which I’m wearing today), a white Michael Kors dress, a Celine khaki dress and a Lanvin gown. I finally have a summer wardrobe.
I just moved to a new apartment in Soho. For the past week, I did everything I could to resist the retail-rich 'hood but Saturday afternoon got the better of me. Madras is my go-to for summer shirting so when I popped by the newly opened Gant store on Prince St., I thought I'd add this one to my collection.
The summer heat finally got to me this weekend. After picking up that shirt at Gant, my friend and I ran up to Billy Reid where I got these shorts. They're nice and lightweight for walking the city but are equally appropriate for the country club or eating caviar on a yacht with a gold spoon. Which I don't really do, but if I did, I'd have the right thing to wear.
When I was in Paris on vacation last week, I saw this sequin Vanessa Bruno tote everywhere, and bought one for myself. This is the smallest size, in canvas. E-commerce is not so easy with this brand, so you may want to order through the Vanessa Bruno store in Los Angeles at 323-655-5300. They sell it for $161 (not including shipping) in a variety of colors.
On Sunday, I stopped by Barney's to scope out the sale selection. Everything is now up to 60% off, in the store and online, and in the shoe department there were a bunch of things I was eying. I came home with this pair of chunky sandals from the Co-op brand that I think will work through the fall with cute tights.
I also scored a T by Alexander Wang tank.
And before leaving, I grabbed an Ella Moss cotton sweater.
Usually, I’m skeptical when people insist that the cute shoes they’re wearing are “sooo comfortable,” because—in my experience, at least—they never are. But I started to notice a lot of my co-workers, even pregnant women, wearing these gorgeous Matt Bernson sandals, saying that they’re insanely comfortable because of some kind of special padding, so I went to the site and immediately wanted everything. But I was trying to be rational, so first, I got these delicately braided flip-flops.
It turns out they are indeed ridiculously comfortable—more so than regular flip flops, and obviously much chicer. So I went right back to the site and promptly ordered what, in my opinion, is the perfect summer flat: the Love Sandal.
I swear, they’re better than being barefoot. And then, since they’re not all that expensive, I also got them in brown and gold.
And since sometimes it’s nice to have some height (and knowing for sure that they’d comfortable), I also got these.
I literally won’t leave the house without sunscreen, especially with the sun blaring as I walk through the city. My all-time favorite products are Supergoop’s SPF30 Sunscreen Swipes for sensitive skin, and this weekend it was time for me to re-stock at Sephora. Given that I’m all about convenience, these swipes make it easy for me to wipe and discard to effortlessly protect my skin and leave me without the dreaded lobster face (which isn’t a good look for anyone).
I bought this arty looking necklace on while on vacation in Mykonos, Greece. I thought it looked like something from Marni—definitely a statement piece. I'm going to wear it with a white t shirt and my orange Zara miniskirt. It was only 45 euros, and I'm hoping it comes off as looking way more expensive.
