Something sweeps over me—it happens sometimes—and I am driven to make irresponsible but beautiful purchases. Meet my new Prada ankle boots, which I will always love and treasure and do my best to take very good care of. That last one is the hard part. Cobblestone streets are just mean.
This weekend, I bought Alice + Olivia high waist wide leg pants in red, after searching Bloomingdale's high and low for the right pair of brightly colored pants. I also tried on pairs from DVF (in more of a burnt orange) and DKNY (a skinny orange version with zippers), but in the end I decided that these had the best color and fit and were most work-appropriate. I’m going to try to be daring and pair them with another bright (hot pink maybe?), but if I chicken out, I can always wear them with a white button down shirt and pile on on the jewelry for an extra bit of flair. I didn’t know they came in blue too when I bought them—I might just pull the trigger on those as well.
These classic brogues from Church’s have been on my shopping list for several seasons. I finally bit the bullet and ordered them—they’re truly an investment. I’ve already worn them twice.
Steven Alan was having a big sale on summer stock this weekend, plus I had a 15% off coupon. I got a workshirt, an apron dress that reminds me of graph paper and a little oxford for my friend’s baby.
After several months of candy-colored manicures and pink-hued glosses, I've set my sights on the lush, deep colors of fall makeup. I had to have this eye shadow the moment I saw it. It's the perfect lustrous combination of plum and cocoa. I love the fact that even though it's shimmery, it is understated enough to go from office to evening out with just a few extra swipes of the shadow brush.
I’m enamored with this Juicy Couture Neo-Navajo print iPad Case that I bought for my friend Heidi. The graphic print and vibrant colors are exuberantly cool. I really want one for myself but I guess I need to buy myself an iPad first.
I never miss a Lauren Merkin sample sale—one can never have too many sweet clutches or big, versatile bags. As usual, I left with a new bag in hand. This time it was the Iris Leopard calf-hair clutch in fawn/white. I saw it sitting in a pile of simpler leather styles near the doorway, and all but ran to scoop it up before another pair of hands got to it.
One of my favorite grooming brands is Jack Black. Almost my entire bathroom is filled with their amazing products. I recently ordered this face moisturizer to help improve my skin and keep me SPF ready...I can’t wait to start using it because I know it will work!
The rain in New York this weekend got me thinking about my Fall wardrobe. After some online browsing, I came across this fur-trim Quiksilver Parka which will be the perfect addition to my closet come September.
