First stop: Heist.
Shopping With Jennifer Meyer Maguire
As the mother of two young children, designer of a flourishing eponymous jewelry line and wife of Hollywood movie star Tobey Maguire, Jennifer Meyer Maguire has little time to shop these days. So when she steps out of her car and surveys the boutiques lining Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach, California, she squeals excitedly, “There is so much crammed onto one little street.”
Wearing a Charlotte Ronson army jacket, Converse high tops (“I’ve had these for ten years!”), and Current/Elliott grey corduroys, Maguire hits the ground running. First stop: Heist, an airy, brick-lined boutique, stocked with key pieces by Thakoon, Raquel Allegra, and Vanessa Bruno. Everything she pulls off the racks, from an Isabel Marant striped knit dress to a berry-hued Frank + Eileen oxford blouse, exudes relaxed glam—a genre into which own her jewelry line squarely falls.
While Maguire's fans, including Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Katie Holmes, can’t get enough of her signature gold leaf pendant necklaces and delicate stackable rings, she is also venturing into new territory by incorporating more colorful gems. “I am really stepping out of my comfort zone and playing with a lot of color,” Maguire says. “I’m working with lapis, emeralds, turquoise and rubies in unexpected ways—and I have my daughter Ruby to thank. Her sense of style and how she coordinates colors has opened my eyes to all these new possibilities, and it has been really fun!”
