What to Wear While Studying Abroad

More often than not these days, college students choose to wander the world as part of their education. With travel comes exposure to new cultures and the fashion that defines them—and since you're there to study for a whole semester, not just vacation, you'll want to blend in. But no matter where you go, you should only pack what you can carry.

Staying stylish when you're in a new environment and have limited space can be tricky—but we're here to help. We've rounded up a handful of city-specific wardrobe essentials you'll need for a fashionable stay in a foreign country. So go ahead, let your wanderlust get the better of you—as long as you have the right accessories.

More likely than not, it's going to rain a majority of the time you're in the UK. A slick trench coat will keep you covered and make you feel like a true Brit.

Neutral tones rule London fashion, so add a spark of color with scarves.

Thick wool sweaters are a must in cold climates. Pick one that suits your style.

Pair high-waisted black pants with a cropped sweater for a chic London look.

Think Madeline 2.0. Browns, blacks, stripes and berets are essentials in Paris’ chilly climate. France is known for being pretty much the fashion capital of the world, so you’ll want your looks to be as stylish as possible.

The classic peacoat is a Paris must-have.

Italy is perhaps France’s biggest rival for fashion capital of the world. The food may be the reason you go, but the style will be the reason you stay. This satchel resembles the fabulous bags you can find in Rome and Florence's famous leather markets.

Even in the dead of winter, snow rarely falls in Rome. Still, it can get quite chilly, so bring some warm, super-functional outerwear.
