Bespoke Home: The Chicest Place to Shop for Personalized Home Goods

Looking for a practical and personal gift for a special occasion? Or maybe you just want to treat yourself? Hey, you deserve it! Bespoke Home, a recently-launched monogram website, has everything from fresh, whimsical home goods to fine jewelry. The site has products for men, women, babies and teens and caters to the interests of homemakers, cooks, travelers, wine lovers and gift-givers (so basically, all of us). They even sell monogrammed yoga mats and custom coasters—which you can check out below.

Molly Gibbons and Abby Durban founded Bespoke Home in 2011 after realizing that Silicon Valley, where the two live, lacked a monogram shop. They opened up a store in the Bay Area and have since expanded to online sales, which all of us East Coasters are thankful for. We spoke with Molly and Abby to ask them about their personal styles, gift-giving advice and home decorating tips.

Lucky: What is your favorite gift to give friends for a birthday or another special occasion?

Molly Gibbons: Finding a special gift for a friend is so rewarding. I love anything personalized (obviously!). Fouta towels are some of my current favorites because they are so versatile. You can use the large ones as a throw, a towel, a sarong and even a lightweight wrap. Candles are yummy too. It's like buying someone perfume for their house and it totally sets a mood.

Abby Durban: I obviously love to give gifts that are personal and special to the recipient. I love to cook, so I like to give a cookbook with a favorite recipe marked plus a monogrammed apron to friends who cook, guest towels with a house number instead of a monogram for a housewarming gift, or a fabulous tote bag for a mom on the go. I stock up on candles for last-minute hostess gifts.

What is your personal style like? What is your favorite item in your wardrobe?

MG: I am fairly traditional, but with a bit of a California flair. I love white and cream, navy and turquoise, chocolate brown instead of black. Jeans-with-a-cashmere-sweater kind of style. I love a beautifully crafted handbag that has interesting detail. Woven leather is one of my favorites. I really love a navy dress by Athé by Vanessa Bruno and a cute tweed jacket from L'Agence. And Lanvin ballet flats. I love Reed Krakoff bags—they have lots of detail and unexpected color.

AD: My natural style is simple and tailored (I never wear prints!), but I love to add a fabulous accessory—it could be a showstopping shoe, bright scarf and of course a great handbag. My favorite wardrobe item is the most perfect black silk wrap top by Tom Ford. It was an extravagant purchase, but I've amortized it many times over!

Do you have any home decorating tips you can share with our readers?

MG: Choose things you like, not what someone tells you you should like.

AD: Lamps! I hate overhead lighting. Never use all-new matching furniture pieces—it will look like a showroom. Mix vintage and new furniture for a fresh, original look.

What blogs/sources inspire you style-wise?

MG: I love J.Crew and always have. Stylebeat and Habitually Chic. Goop and Barefoot Contessa. I have several friends who really have great taste. I look to them for opinions and advice if I'm not 100% sure something is right for me. They are old friends, so they are honest!

AD: My favorites are Habitually Chic, Stylebeat and Remodelista.
